At Reliable Background Screening, we strongly believe that educating our clients about what background information they should have and what the best methods are to acquire it, is part of what we are supposed to do.
We make it our business to stay informed on issues related to background screening, including laws, regulations, court cases, and methods by which people try to hide their tarnished past.
Some people believe that searching for criminal records is as easy as entering a Social Security Number, and then in an instant, someone’s complete criminal history will appear. In reality, most criminal records do not even have a complete Social Security Number attached to them, and therefore, it is crucial to search by the exact legal name and the exact date of birth in order to get more accurate information regarding an investigated person.
To yield proper results, we apply best practices and we review input for accuracy to prevent ‘garbage in – garbage out’ when reports are pulled. If we feel information may have been entered incorrectly, we always follow up with our clients. In addition, we advise our clients on what searches and products we would recommend based upon their specific background screening needs.
Please read the article below, which I recently wrote. This particular article explains how crucial it is to check government issued ID for valid criminal searches. for Valid Criminal
By Rudy Troisi. President, Reliable Background
Many people believe that searching for criminal records is as easy as entering a Social Security Number, and then in an instant, someone’s complete criminal history will appear. Regarding this matter, hardly anything could be farther from the truth. Most criminal records do not even have a complete Social Security Number attached to them. Thus, in order to obtain a valid criminal search, it is crucial to search by the exact legal name and the exact date of birth of the individual upon whom the background check is being performed.

Paris Hilton recently made her way through airport security, without her driver’s license. Luckily, Paris Hilton does not appear to pose much of a threat to anyone (regardless of how annoying many perceive her to be). While we can joke about it now, verifying somebody’s drivers license is serious business, especially in the background screening industry and for those companies and organizations that order background screening reports.
Reliable Background Screening consistently informs our clients of the importance of checking a government-issued ID before running a background check to ensure that proper results are returned and that our clients are screening the person that you intend they intended to screen.
There was a fifth-grade field trip that took place in South Carolina recently, and it was discovered that one of the chaperones was a registered sex offender. The chaperone in question was eventually removed from chaperoning the trip once the school received an anonymous tip that the person was indeed a sex offender. Of course, a thorough background check could have revealed this information and prevented a sex offender from being on the trip at any point in time.
Reliable Background Screening has been in the business of completing background checks for schools for many years and encourage all organizations to perform background checks on volunteers in addition to employees. It is not just our children who are at risk from sex offenders.
There are volunteers who target the elderly, the disabled, and other vulnerable populations, specifically who unfortunately are out there to perform inappropriate acts and take advantage of those who are most at risk vulnerable. And remember, when you do get run that background check, make sure to check their Government ID to ensure they are who they say they are.
